The managing partners of West End have over 16 years of combined real estate and investing experience, most recently working together on the acquisition team at Starwood Capital Group, one of the largest real estate private equity firms in the world (over $22 billion in assets under management). At Starwood, Jeff and Jimmy acquired over 15,000 apartment units and approximately 3.7 million square feet of commercial property, representing over $2.1 billion in transaction volume and $690 million in equity invested. At West End, both Jeff and Jimmy are responsible for all aspects of the business including fundraising, deal sourcing, executing transactions, asset management, and disposition.
- James F. Barter, Jr. (Jimmy) Jimmy is a co-founder and Managing Partner of West End Capital Group. Prior to founding West End, Jimmy was a member of the Starwood Capital Group acquisitions team, primarily focusing on acquiring office, retail and multifamily assets as well as land and distressed debt pools. Jimmy also spent several years in the transaction side of the business in the Washington DC office of top tier investment sales and debt brokerage firm, Holliday Fenoglio Fowler. Jimmy received his B.S. in Finance and Marketing from the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce and his MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business Administration. Jimmy was also a member of the NCAA National Champion Men’s Lacrosse Team at UVA.
- Jeff S. Wainwright Jeff is a co-founder and Managing Partner of West End Capital Group. Previously, Jeff was a Vice President and partner with Starwood Capital Group’s acquisitions team, where he was responsible for sourcing, due diligence, and execution of investments on behalf of Starwood’s real estate opportunity funds. Prior to Starwood, Jeff worked with Gladstone Capital in its private equity and mezzanine debt group, focusing on corporate and real estate investment opportunities. Jeff began his career as an investment banking analyst in Wells Fargo’s leveraged finance group. Jeff earned an MBA from Columbia Business School and a B.S. in Finance from Virginia Tech.
